LandPaths and Naturalmente Indígena present a virtual workshop for youth. This workshop will uplift youth voices and while intended for youth 9-17 and their families, this event is open to all ages!  We invite you to participate in this youth/family space, and share in a conversation on Tonantzin (Mother Earth), and the gifts she offers us to use towards our wellness.

Leading the workshop along with her family is Adela Diaz-Villalta, 13, President of Naturalmente Indígena, a youth organization promoting community, ceremony, and traditional knowledge towards sustainably. She is also a Project G.O.O.D (growing our own destiny) intern with Yisrael Family Urban Farm. During this pandemic Adela is facilitating a youth mindfulness circle for tween and teen girls of color. This is a participatory workshop. It's okay to join if you don't have all the listed materials, but please be sure to have paper and colored pencils or markers nearby. We'll be bundling some herbs, and putting together an immunity booster. Gather with us at home with your family to listen or participate by using the suggested material list. Register ahead of time to receive the zoom link to access the workshop.

Materials:

  • Freshly harvested herbs of your choice (rosemary, sages, lavenders, mugwort and cedars are suitable) Please gather herbs with care, ask permission, share an offering of something before you clip and only take what you really need.
  • String (jute or twine work best but just about any string will work) and strong scissors

If you want to put together the immunity booster you'll also need:

  • A smaller mason jar, about a cup of raw honey, rosemary, garlic and ginger root
