WHAT IS THE SENIOR FARMERS’ MARKET NUTRITION PROGRAM?

The Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) is a federally funded program administer nationally by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Services Agency, and in California, by the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA).

AM I ELIGIBLE?

SFMNP Food benefits are provided to individuals 60 years of age and older who are on a limited income (see table below), allowing access to fresh produce from local farmers’ markets. Qualified senior recipients may receive only one check booklet per season, which runs from May-September. Quantities are limited.

WHERE CAN I GET AN SFMNP CHECK BOOKLET?

CDFA partners with the Area Agencies on Aging (AAA’s) throughout California. Local AAA’s help administer the SFMNP Check Booklets to eligible seniors at select distribution sites.

Contact your local AAA today to find out where SFMNP check will be distributed in your county.
